Exhibition - Bombs and Barrage Balloons:

The Iron and Steel Industry on Teesside during World War 2

2010 marks the 70th anniversary since the Battle of Britain.  This was the first major offensive to be fought entirely by air forces and was the largest and most sustained aerial bombing campaign up to that date.

The British Steel Archive Project has developed an exhibition on the Iron and Steel Industry in Teesside during World War 2 to commemorate this anniversary.

The exhibition highlights the important contributions of the iron and steel industry on Teesside to the national war effort and considers how this made the area a prime target for enemy attack. It also explores the significant role of women in the industry at this time.

The exhibition will be touring around libraries in the region, so look out for it at a location near you!
